Vinod Suresh graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai (formerly known as Madras). His doctoral research in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University examined the effects of surface tension and electrical forces on flows in microfluidic devices.

As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan Vinod developed fluid dynamics models of surfactant delivery and liquid ventilation gas exchange in the lungs. His later postdoctoral work at the University of California, Irvine, focused on studying nitric oxide transport and metabolism in the lungs using cell culture systems and mathematical modelling.

Jagir Hussan

Jagir Hussan’s research portfolio spans foundational biophysics, climate-resilient agriculture, and generative artificial intelligence (AI). Following a foundational career driving high-performance computing solutions at IBM, he earned a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Auckland, establishing a first-principles framework for cardiac electrophysiology. Today, he leverages this unique blend of enterprise computing and mechanistic physiology to build the next generation of mathematical architectures. His lab designs thermodynamically consistent digital twins that tackle global challenges ranging from the aetiology of complex human diseases to the impacts of climate change on agricultural ecosystems.
